Tyrrell Hatton is in the lead at the British Masters, thanks to a stellar seven-under-par 65 in the second round at The Belfry.
The 32-year-old Englishman Tyrrell Hatton leads the British Masters with a total of 10 under par for the week, thanks to a stellar seven-under-par 65 in the second round at The Belfry. He holds a one-shot advantage over South Africa's Brandon Stone, Spain's Jorge Campillo, and France's Ko Jeong-weon.
This is Hatton's first appearance in a regular DP World Tour event since January, following an appeal against sanctions for participating in LIV Golf events without permission. The two-time Ryder Cup winner, a favorite before the event, made eight birdies and just one bogey to top the leaderboard heading into the weekend.
"It's never perfect; we always feel like something was left out there," Hatton said. "But I'm happy with a seven-under today. The main goal was to make the cut and give myself a chance for the weekend, and I'm pleased with where we stand."
"I missed a few short putts today, so avoiding that over the weekend would be great," Hatton said. "I just need to keep creating chances."
Brandon Stone had the standout round of the day, carding nine birdies—including four in a row from the 14th to 17th—for a superb 64.
England’s Paul Waring, who was tied for the lead after the first round, fell to two under after a three-over second round filled with bogeys.
