Grenfell Boxers Stepping into the Ring to Honor Fire Victims.

Dale Youth Academy boasts a rich boxing legacy. It's been a training ground for world champion George Groves, Olympic gold medalist James DeGale, and Daniel Dubois, who is set to fight Anthony Joshua this month.

Tommy Murphy, a rising boxer, reflects on the difficult past of Dale Youth Academy, which was once located in Grenfell Tower, the site of the devastating fire on June 14, 2017.

The blaze, the deadliest residential fire since World War II, claimed 72 lives. An inquiry into the tragedy has been ongoing since 2018, with findings expected soon.

For Tommy, the night of the fire is a "blur" and remains hard to fully grasp. "It’s still half-unbelievable," he says. While he only attended the gym there, others lived in the tower and lost loved ones. “For many locals, it’s a significant part of their lives.”

Tommy, who joined Dale Youth Academy in 2010, turned professional in 2022.
