Great Britain Leads the Way in America's Cup Challenge.

Ben Ainslie's Ineos Britannia team has led the round-robin stage in qualifying, aiming to be the first British crew to win the America's Cup.

As winners of the Louis Vuitton Cup, ahead of Italy, the United States, Switzerland, and France (who have been eliminated), Ben Ainslie's team can now choose their semi-final opponents.

However, Ainslie has not yet disclosed which team they will face in the semi-finals off the coast of Barcelona.

“Honestly, we didn’t expect this,” Ainslie said after defeating the Italian team in a sail-off.

“We’ve got a fast boat, so we just need to keep up the momentum,” Ainslie said.

The winner of the Louis Vuitton Cup will face New Zealand, the defending champions, for the America's Cup, the oldest international sports trophy.

The Louis Vuitton Cup semi-finals are scheduled from September 14-23.
