Gibson Clinches European Compound Archery Championship for Great Britain.

Ella Gibson from Great Britain secured her inaugural outdoor individual European gold medal at the European Archery Championships held in Essen, Germany.

Ella Gibson, hailing from Cirencester, Gloucestershire, triumphed over Elisa Roner from Italy in a decisive one-arrow shoot-off during the final at the European Archery Championships in Essen, Germany.

This victory came after both archers were tied following five rounds of intense competition.

The 23-year-old, who holds the world number one ranking, had previously secured a silver medal at the same championships in 2021.

Reflecting on her win, Gibson expressed how meaningful it was, especially since her first individual outdoor senior medal was a silver at the Europeans in 2021. She noted the growth in her experience and how different and confident she felt in this final compared to her earlier competitions.

In the recurve mixed team event, Bryony Pitman and Conor Hall added to Great Britain's success by winning a silver medal, marking the first time since 2010 that the country has secured a mixed European team medal.
