The former Tour de France champion, Geraint Thomas has completed signing a new two-year extended contract with Ineos Grenadiers.
The Welsh rider finished second at this year's Giro d'Italia and won the Tour de France in 2018. He has been a consistent performer in France since his maiden victory, finishing second in the race in 2019 and third in 2022.
The 37-year-old hinted at a potential retirement upon the conclusion of the contract.
Thomas joined Team Sky in 2010 and helped them become the dominant force at the Tour de France before being taken over by British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe's petrochemicals giant INEOS.
The Welshman's crowning glory came in claiming the yellow jersey five years ago and he also finished on the podium in 2019 and 2022.
He skipped the Tour this year to concentrate on the Giro and Vuelta a Espana, but his tilt at the later was ruined by crashes early in the race.
Sky or INEOS combined to win seven out of eight editions of the Tour de France between 2012 and 2019.
Thomas said he is still hoping for another shot at Grand Tour glory, but did not rule out working as a domestique for one of his teammates.
"I want to continue to be highly competitive in anything really," Thomas added.
Thomas’ 2023 season was disrupted by illness during the winter but he bounced back at the Giro d’Italia, only losing out on the overall win on the penultimate stage.
He is expected to be handed another leadership role next season in the Grand Tours with Carlos Rodriguez also set to stay on the team after signing a long-term contract extension of his own.
