British cyclist Pfeiffer Georgi withdrew from the Tour de France Femmes after a late crash on stage five. The incident also caused leader Demi Vollering to fall in the standings.
Georgi was involved in a crash with 6.3km remaining on stage five, leading to her withdrawal from the Tour de France Femmes, as confirmed by her team DSM-Firmenich PostNL.
The 23-year-old, who finished fifth in the women's road race at the Paris 2024 Olympics, was in 45th place overall before the stage.
Blanka Vas of Hungary won the stage, edging out Kasia Niewiadoma, Liane Lippert, and Kristen Faulkner in a sprint finish. Niewiadoma now leads the overall standings, while Dutch rider Vollering, who fell and lost 1 minute 47 seconds, dropped to ninth place.
Vollering, a teammate of stage winner Vas, struggled with injuries but managed to finish the 152.5km ride from Bastogne to Amneville.
Niewiadoma holds a 19-second lead over American Faulkner as the race heads into Friday’s 159.2km stage from Remiremont to Morteau.
