GB Secures Relay Final Spot with Fifth-Fastest Time—Peaty Missing.

Adam Peaty did not compete in the mixed 4x100m medley relay heats on Friday morning as Team GB started their Olympic title defense.

James Wilby took the breaststroke leg as the British team qualified for Saturday’s final with the fifth-fastest time.

Adam Peaty, who tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday after winning silver in the 100m breaststroke, missed the heats. However, he could still join the final on Saturday evening or compete in the men’s 4x100m medley relay if he recovers and the coaches decide to include him.

Peaty missed the heats in the mixed relay at the World Championships but participated in the final, and he was crucial in Britain’s Olympic win in Tokyo. His recent training sessions offer hope he might be fit to compete.
