France Triumphs Over 10-Man Egypt in Extra Time to Reach Olympic Football Final.

Jean-Philippe Mateta scored twice, leading France to a 3-1 comeback victory over 10-man Egypt after extra time, securing their place in the men's Olympic football final.

Thierry Henry's team secured their first Olympic football medal in 40 years by reaching the final, where they will face Spain at the Parc des Princes on Friday (17:00 BST).

Jean-Philippe Mateta, 27, scored a late equalizer from Michael Olise's pass after Mahmoud Saber had given Egypt the lead in Lyon.

Mateta then headed France in front nine minutes into extra time, following Omar Fayed's dismissal for a second yellow card. Fayed's first booking came in second-half stoppage time for protesting a French penalty appeal that was overturned by VAR.

Michael Olise sealed the 3-1 victory for France.

Egypt will now compete against Morocco for the bronze medal in Nantes on Thursday (16:00).
