Former Man Utd Defender Jones Retires, Sets Sights on Coaching Career.

Phil Jones, the former Manchester United defender, has announced his retirement from professional football and is now looking to transition into a coaching role.

The 32-year-old Phil Jones, who last played for Manchester United in the 2022-23 season, has officially retired from football. His final game was a 3-0 win against Brentford a year earlier.

Jones, who earned 27 caps for England, joined United from Blackburn in 2011 but faced numerous injuries throughout his career.

Reflecting on his career, he told BBC Radio 5 Live, "My career finished shorter than I would have liked. I’m glass half full. I’ve completed my A license and want to challenge myself in coaching. Ultimately, I aim to manage a team and am determined to get there."

During his 12 years with Manchester United, Jones won the Premier League in 2013, the FA Cup in 2016, the League Cup and Europa League in 2017, and the Community Shield in 2011 and 2013.
