Fernando Martinez fought back heavily and retain his IBF world super-flyweight title in Minneapolis.

Argentina's Fernando Martinez fought back heavily and edged past Jade Bornea by technical knockout in 11 rounds to reconquer his IBF world super-flyweight title for the second time in Minneapolis.

The referee put an end to the actions with only 29 seconds runs in the final assault. Martinez (16-0-0, 9 KOs) hammered Bornea (18-1, 12 KOs) to no reply.

Fernando Martinez was conditioned after suffering a right earlobe tear taking a left hand on the ninth turn.

Remarkably, Bornea refused to let the injury affect him and continued to fight on.

Blood dripped down the right side of his body, but he battled through it as he kept trying to win the world title.

Two rounds later though, this dream finally died.

Referee Charlie Fitch stopped the fight after 30 seconds of round 11 as Martinez continued to pummel Bornea.

As a result, he retained his IBF super-flyweight crown.
