The excitement of team golf was front and center as the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Virginia hosted the 19th edition of the Solheim Cup.
Europe, aiming to defend the Solheim Cup for a record fourth time, are seen as the underdogs, as admitted by captain Suzann Pettersen.
However, they come in with strong momentum from last year's exciting 14-14 tie at Finca Cortesin in Spain.
The USA, eager for their first win since 2017, will have a lively crowd cheering them on, with about 100,000 fans expected at the tree-lined course an hour west of Washington DC.
“It’s great to get this started again,” Pettersen told BBC Sport. “It feels like we just left Spain, and we need to keep the momentum going. Playing away is challenging, but the players are ready for it.”
