England’s Lauren James, Lucy Bronze, and Lauren Hemp have been nominated for the 2024 Women’s Ballon d'Or, which honors the best female footballer of the year.
All three England players—Lauren James, Lucy Bronze, and Lauren Hemp—competed in the 2023 Women's World Cup final, where the Lionesses lost to Spain.
Aitana Bonmati, who won the award in 2023 and played for Spain, is also among the 30 nominees. Chelsea features prominently with four players: Sjoeke Nusken, Mayra Ramirez, Lauren James, and Lucy Bronze, who joined Chelsea after leaving Barcelona in June.
Other notable nominees include Japan's Yui Hasegawa from Manchester City and Spain's Mariona Caldentey from Arsenal.
Chelsea, the 2023–24 Women's Super League champions, is up for the club of the year award alongside Barcelona, NJ/NY Gotham FC, Lyon, and Paris Saint-Germain.
For the women's coach of the year, United States manager Emma Hayes competes with England's Sarina Wiegman and Chelsea's Sonia Bompastor.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony in Paris on October 28.
