England's James Wilby wins the 100m breaststroke title in CWG 2022.

England's James Wilby surpassed Adam Peaty to clinch the gold in the men's 100m breaststroke final at the Sandwell Aquatics Centre in Commonwealth Games 2022.

Adam Peaty had never before lost a major final in his favored event. He led the final at the 50m mark but lost momentum in the closing stages and it was Wilby who emerged victory at Sandwell Aquatics Centre.

Zac Stubblety-Cook finished second in 59.52secs while fellow Australian Sam Williamson took bronze in 59.82s, 0.04 ahead of fourth-placed Peaty.

The three-time Olympic gold medalist, Adam Peaty clocked 59.86 seconds and settled at the fourth position.
