Engineer Bonnington to Remain with Hamilton, Won’t Join Ferrari.

Lewis Hamilton’s longtime race engineer, Peter Bonnington, will not be moving to Ferrari with Hamilton next season.

Peter Bonnington, who has been Lewis Hamilton's race engineer throughout his 12-year career with Mercedes, has been promoted to head of race engineering.

Known as 'Bono' to Formula 1 fans for his role on team radio, Bonnington will continue to work with Hamilton for the rest of this season.

At 49, Bonnington will also serve as a race engineer for one of Mercedes’ drivers next season.

George Russell is contracted until the end of 2025 and will likely be joined by Mercedes' Italian talent Andrea Kimi Antonelli, currently racing in Formula 2.

Hamilton, who has won six titles with Bonnington, will need to adjust to a new race engineer when he moves to Ferrari in 2025. However, he will still encounter familiar faces at Maranello.
