Emerse Fae Named Ivory Coast's New Permanent Coach Following Afcon Victory.

Emerse Fae has officially become the Ivory Coast's permanent coach, securing the role after guiding the Elephants to victory in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Fae's leadership during the tournament has earned him the trust of the national team, marking a significant milestone in his coaching career.

Emerse Fae, aged 40, stepped in as interim coach following Jean-Louis Gasset's departure during the Africa Cup of Nations group stage.
At that point, Ivory Coast faced adversity, having suffered two defeats, including a significant 4-0 loss to Equatorial Guinea on home turf.

However, Fae's leadership spurred a remarkable turnaround for the tournament hosts during the knockout stages. Despite starting as the last of the four best third-placed teams, the Elephants showcased resilience and determination under Fae's guidance.

They triumphed over Senegal in a nerve-wracking penalty shootout, then staged a remarkable comeback against Mali, despite being down to 10 men, securing victory after extra time.

In the semi-finals, Ivory Coast defeated DR Congo, setting the stage for an intense final showdown against Nigeria.

Despite initially falling behind, the Ivorians rallied back to claim a thrilling 2-1 victory in the final held in Abidjan on February 11th, clinching their third continental title in a display of unwavering teamwork and determination.
