The English Ice Hockey Association (EIHA) has officially announced that they will make neck guard mandatory in English Ice Hockey from 2024 onwards following the death of Nottingham Panthers star Adam Johnson.
EIHA have issued a statement detailing the changes following Johnson's death in the game against Sheffield Steelers on Saturday, October 28.
Johnson, 29, suffered a serious cut to his neck caused by an opponent player's skate during the 35th minute of the Challenge Cup game. The Panthers confirmed he had died in a statement released on Sunday (October 28).
