The team Ecuador set their spot at this year's World Cup in Qatar after FIFA dismissed an appeal in the case of Ecuadorean player Byron Castillo whom Chile claimed was ineligible for the qualifiers.
The Chilean football federation brought forward a claim against Ecuador at the start of May for fielding an ineligible player during CONMEBOL qualifying.
They appealed that defender Byron Castillo, who plays for Ecuadorian club Barcelona SC, was born in Colombia and has been using a falsified passport and birth certificate.
The FIFA disciplinary committee closed the proceedings in June but the Chileans appealed, leading to a new hearing before the appeals committee.
After defending on the complain and producing all the valid and genuine documents, FIFA ultimately dismissed the appeal made by the Chilean football federation .
