If the ECB approves changes to the tournament's draft system, franchises in The Hundred may be able to directly offer players multi-year contracts worth as much as £300,000 per season.
The board is exploring the possibility of asking the UK's Home Office to allow each team in The Hundred to include a fourth overseas player in their lineup, up from the current maximum of three.
Last month, the ECB began selling stakes in the eight teams of The Hundred. They informed potential investors that total wage expenses could rise by more than 80% next year.
Currently, each team spends about £1.9 million annually on salaries for players and coaches, but this could exceed £3.5 million once the new agreements are finalized.
