Dutch Footballer Anwar El Ghazi Pledges €500,000 to Support Children in Gaza.

Anwar El Ghazi has pledged to donate €500,000 to children in Gaza, which represents a third of the settlement he received from Mainz 05 after they wrongfully terminated his contract over his support for Palestinians in the Israel-Hamas conflict.

In October, the Bundesliga club suspended Anwar El Ghazi over a social media post showing support for Palestinians, coinciding with a period when Hamas militants launched attacks in southern Israel, leading to Israel's subsequent invasion of Gaza.

The club terminated his contract the following month.

However, a German court ruled last month that the termination was wrongful. El Ghazi, who recently signed with Cardiff City, originally had a contract with Mainz until 2025.

The Mainz Labour Court ordered the club to pay El Ghazi's wages for the past nine months, amounting to €1.7 million ($1.9 million).

El Ghazi confirmed to The Athletic that he received €1.5 million from Mainz as part of the settlement.
