Dustin Johnson the two-time major champion has confirmed that he has resigned from the PGA Tour in order to compete in the Saudi-funded LIV Golf Invitational Series.
On Thursday at Centurion Club, London, the former world champion Dustin Johnson will be participating in the event and will be playing all eight events of the fledgling $255m (£200m) series.
At the age of 37, Johnson joined the PGA Tour. Throughout the tour he had won $74m in his career.
Dustin Johnson shared his feelings that "I don't want to play for the rest of my life, this gives me an opportunity to do what I want to do."
The champion who is receiving $150m as appearance fees to play in the series, is giving up the opportunity to play in the Ryder Cup.
"The Ryder Cup is unbelievable and has meant a lot to me, but ultimately I decided this was best for me and my family," said the 2020 Masters champion.
