Doheny’s Title Dreams Crushed by Injury in Clash with Undisputed Champ Inoue.

TJ Doheny's chance to claim the undisputed super-bantamweight title ended when an injury in the seventh round forced him to stop fighting against Japan's Naoya Inoue in Tokyo.

After enduring several hard body shots from the four-weight world champion, the Irishman seemed to signal a lower back injury, leading to a technical knockout win for Inoue.

This loss marks the fifth of 37-year-old Doheny’s career, while Inoue improves to 28-0.

In a disappointing end to the fight, Doheny raised his arm after taking a straight right hand from Inoue. Despite the setback, he congratulated Inoue, widely seen as the best pound-for-pound fighter.

Doheny, a 12-year veteran and former IBF super-bantamweight champion, had hoped to pull off a major upset after reviving his career over the past year.
