Novak Djokovic has reached the US Open third round after Laslo Djere retired from their match due to injury.

Defending champion Novak Djokovic advanced to the third round when Laslo Djere had to retire due to an abdominal injury. Djokovic was ahead 6-4, 6-4, 2-0 when the match ended.

Despite the match lasting just over two sets, they played for more than two hours in New York's extreme heat and humidity. Djokovic commented on the tough conditions, noting, "It was a big fight, more than two hours for two sets."
