Deepthi Jeevanji Makes History with India's First Gold at World Para Athletics Championships 2024.

Deepthi Jeevanji made history by winning India's first-ever gold medal at the World Para Athletics Championships in Kobe, Japan, on Monday (May 20th).

The star athlete created history by setting a new world record time of 55.06 seconds in the women's 400m T20 category race.

Previously, Deepthi Jeevanji secured a spot in the Paris Paralympics 2024 by qualifying for the Women's 400m T20 heat final, where she set a new Asian record with a time of 56.18 seconds.

India has secured three medals at the World Para Athletics Championships 2024. In the last edition of the Games, India achieved a record-breaking haul of 10 medals, consisting of three gold, four silver, and three bronze medals.

On the third day of the World Para Athletics Championships, India's Preethi Pal won bronze in the women's T35 200m final, clocking 30.49 seconds. 

Nishad Kumar, a Tokyo Paralympics silver medalist, secured silver in the men's T47 high jump final by clearing 1.99m. These performances added India's first medals to the championship's tally on Sunday, May 19th.
