CSA Plans Comprehensive Approach to Transformation Challenges.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) will hold a three-day DEI conference starting Friday. The goal is to develop a plan to ensure the national men's team reflects the country's demographics by the 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa.

The DEI Indaba, formerly the Transformation Indaba, will focus on overall representation in cricket. The event aims to address issues across the sport's infrastructure, not just those related to a specific race.

CSA board member and DEI Chairperson Mudutambi Ravele explained that the goal is to build a diverse cricket structure. For instance, data from Kwa-Zulu Natal shows a decline in players of Indian heritage, and Limpopo lacks white players.

Ravele emphasized the need to address these imbalances comprehensively.

Given South Africa's history and demographics—where 84.8% of the population is Black African—there is a need to reflect this diversity in cricket.

Despite efforts since 1992, recent concerns have arisen, such as the lack of Black African players in the T20 World Cup 2024 squad, highlighting the importance of this conference.
