Cricket World Cup 2023: Pakistan hammered Sri Lanka with record World Cup chase.

With impressive centuries by Abdullah Shafique and Mohammed Rizwan, Pakistan completed the highest chase in World Cup history to beat Sri Lanka by 6 wickets at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Earlier, Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka won the toss and elected to bat first at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. 

Kusal Mendis (122) and Sadeera Samarawickrama (108) knocked terrific centuries as Sri Lanka posted a huge total of 344 for 9.

Mendis was at his destructive best as the right-handed batter clobbered 14 fours and six sixes to make 122 off just 77 balls. He added 102 runs with Pathum Nissanka (51) for the second wicket and 111 runs with Samarawickrama for the third.

Hasan Ali was the pick among bowlers for Pakistan, returning with 10-0-71-4.

In reply, Pakistan chased down a target of 345, with Rizwan scoring an undefeated 131 and Shafique making 113 to surpass the previous successful chase of 328 set by Ireland when they stunned England at the 2011 World Cup.
