Cricket Mourns the Loss: Former England Batter Graham Thorpe Passed Away at 55.

The cricket world is in mourning as former England and Surrey batter Graham Thorpe has passed away at the age of 55.

Known for his elegant stroke play and tenacious spirit, Thorpe left an indelible mark on the game. His death has sparked an outpouring of tributes from fans and players alike, celebrating his contributions both on and off the field.

Graham Thorpe, the stylish left-handed batter who played 100 Tests for England between 1993 and 2005, has died at 55. Known for his elegant technique, Thorpe scored 6,744 Test runs, including 16 centuries, at an average of 44.66.

Tributes poured in from across the cricketing world, with current England captain Ben Stokes, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), and Surrey expressing their sorrow.

Michael Vaughan, Thorpe's former teammate, described him as a "legend" who had "gone far too young."

The ECB's statement reflected the deep shock felt by many: "There seem to be no appropriate words to describe the deep shock we feel at Graham's death. More than one of England's finest-ever batters, he was a beloved member of the cricket family and revered by fans all over the world. His skill was unquestioned, and his abilities and achievements across a 13-year international career brought so much happiness to his teammates and England and Surrey CCC supporters alike. Later, as a coach, he guided the best England men's talent to some incredible victories across all formats of the game."
