County club, Leicestershire signed a contract with Australia's Peter Handscomb.

County Club, Leicestershire is delighted to announce the signing of Australia star batter, Peter Handscomb for the upcoming County Championship season.

Australia international, Peter Handscomb agreed with the terms and has committed to play the first two months of the County Championship season for Leicestershire.

Peter Handscomb is one of the many talented Australian wicket-keeper batsmen doing the rounds in the domestic circuit. He represented Victoria at both under-17 and under-19 level before representing the Australian under-19 side against the Sri Lanka under-19 side in 2009.

He made a mark for himself on his Sheffield Shield debut for Victoria as an opening batsman in 2011-12 when he scored 71 runs against Queensland at The Gabba.

He was a part of the Australian ODI squad for their tour to England in 2015 but failed to get a game. In 2016, he was picked up in the IPL auction to be part of the MS Dhoni-led franchise, Rising Pune Supergiants.

Handscomb was named in the Ashes squad for Australia's quest to regain the coveted urn at home in 2017-18. He scored 62 runs across three innings in the first two Tests in Brisbane and Adelaide, and was subsequently dropped for the Perth Test after proving to be inept against Anderson and co. under lights in Adelaide.

In March 2019, Handscomb scored his first century in an ODI, with 117 against India at Mohali.

In July 2019, Handscomb was added to Australia's squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup. He replaced Shaun Marsh, who was ruled out of the rest of the tournament with a fractured forearm.

In February 2023, he was selected for the Australian Test team for the first time in four years, playing all four Tests of the Australian tour of India.
