Countdown to Paris 2024 Olympics: Dates, Venues, and Prize Money - A Comprehensive Guide with 100 Days to Go.

As the Paris 2024 Olympics countdown hits 100 days, we've compiled a guide covering all the essential information you need to know about the upcoming Games.

Team GB had a stellar performance at the Tokyo Games, securing fourth place with an impressive haul of 64 medals, including 22 golds, just one shy of their record from hosting the London 2012 Olympics.

Tokyo 2020 was postponed by a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, with the crowds returning to fill the stands, what can we anticipate from Paris 2024?

When are the Olympics?

The Paris 2024 Olympics kick off with the opening ceremony on Friday, July 26. However, sports action starts earlier, on Wednesday, July 24, with pool matches in football, rugby sevens, handball, and archery. The Games will continue until August 11.

Which venues are being used for the Olympics?

The Paris 2024 Olympics will feature most events in and around Paris's center, with a spectacular opening ceremony planned along the Seine. This marks the first time the ceremony will be outside the main stadium in Olympic history.

Athletics and the closing ceremony will be at the Stade de France, while football matches will be held at Parc des Princes, home to Paris St-Germain. Tennis and boxing will take place at Roland Garros. Surfing, however, will be in Tahiti, almost 10,000 miles away.

Around 95% of the venues are existing or temporary, with only the aquatics center being newly built for the Games.

Prize money at the Olympics?

World Athletics has made history by being the first international federation to offer prize money at the Olympic Games.

They've allocated a total of $2.4 million for this summer's Olympics in Paris, with gold medalists set to receive $50,000 each.
