Clattenburg Critiques Forest Role: More Harm than Good.

Former Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg stated that his consultancy role with Nottingham Forest ended up being counter-productive.

Former Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg, 49, was appointed as a referee analyst by Nottingham Forest in February but resigned three months later.

His resignation followed a column in the Mail on Sunday where he called decisions during Forest's loss to Everton in April a "joke."

After the defeat, manager Nuno Espirito Santo and defender Neco Williams were charged with misconduct for their comments.

Forest also issued a statement on X, claiming they had warned referees’ body PGMOL about video assistant referee Stuart Attwell's alleged bias due to his support for relegation rivals Luton Town.

When asked on Radio 5Live if his role at Forest was successful, Clattenburg responded, "No, because it caused more problems than it did good. We implemented certain strategies to give Nottingham Forest a sporting edge, but there was significant outcry from various parties week after week."
