Caitlin Clark set a new WNBA single-season assist record during the Indiana Fever's 78-74 home loss to the Las Vegas Aces on Friday.
Clark tied Alyssa Thomas’ previous record of 316 assists in the second quarter before surpassing it in the third.
The rookie ended the game with nine assists, bringing her season total to 321, along with 18 points.
The 22-year-old has had an impressive WNBA debut, leading the league in both assists and three-pointers made.
Clark’s record-breaking performance came just two days after A’ja Wilson set a new single-season points record. In that game, the Aces defeated the Fever 86-75.
Wilson, a strong MVP contender for the third time, scored 27 points, surpassing Jewell Loyd’s previous record of 939.
Wilson added 15 more points on Friday, while Chelsea Gray led Las Vegas with 21 points. With 971 points for the season, Wilson now has three games left to become the first player in WNBA history to reach 1,000 points in a single season.
