Pablo Castrillo scored the biggest win of his career with a dramatic summit finish, overcoming Britain’s Max Poole on stage 12 of the Vuelta a España.
The 23-year-old Equipo Kern Pharma rider, making his Grand Tour debut, entered the final kilometre with a 30-second lead and managed to hold off 21-year-old Poole on the tough climb to Montana de Manzaneda, winning by eight seconds.
UAE Team Emirates' Marc Soler finished third on the stage.
Meanwhile, Australian Ben O’Connor kept his 3-minute, 16-second lead over Primoz Roglic in the general classification.
