England's interim U21 manager, Lee Carsley, says being the boss isn't an "impossible job" but rather "a really good one."
England's only major men's title came with their 1966 World Cup win, despite Gareth Southgate leading the team to back-to-back European Championship finals.
After Southgate resigned following Euro 2024, Lee Carsley was promoted from coaching the U21s to interim manager.
Two wins in his first two Nations League games—a 2-0 victory over the Republic of Ireland in Dublin and another 2-0 win against Finland at Wembley—have boosted his chances of securing the role permanently.
Although his position has been labeled "An Impossible Job," a reference to a 1994 documentary about former manager Graham Taylor, Carsley admitted he's unfamiliar with the phrase. "I’ve not heard that one, no," he said.
