Cacace vs. Warrington: IBF World Title Off the Table in Showdown.

Anthony Cacace's IBF world super-featherweight title won’t be up for grabs in his fight against Josh Warrington this Saturday at Wembley.

Anthony Cacace won the IBF world super-featherweight title by beating Joe Cordina in May, but his title won’t be on the line when he faces Josh Warrington at Wembley.

The IBF has allowed the fight to proceed, but Warrington, who is stepping up from featherweight and is currently unranked in the super-featherweight division, won’t be challenging for the title.

Instead, Cacace’s IBO world title, which he’s held since 2022, will be up for grabs. If Cacace loses, he will vacate his IBF belt. Should he win, he’ll need to defend his title against Mexico’s Eduardo Nunez before March 20 next year.

Cacace had hoped to defend both titles in this fight and is unclear why only one title is on the line in the Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois undercard.

Since winning the title from Cordina, Cacace has enjoyed being called a world champion, but he's driven by a desire to keep winning.

“I’m not satisfied with just being champion. I want to beat the top guys and keep doing what I’m doing,” he said.

Cacace acknowledges Warrington as a tough opponent but believes he’s a superior boxer. Despite Warrington’s recent losses and long absence from the ring, Cacace sees him as a fierce competitor.

Reflecting on his career, Cacace appreciates the support from former world champion Carl Frampton. “Carl told me early on that I’d become a world champion,” he recalled. “It’s nice that he was right. He’s been a great help and a good friend throughout my journey.”
