These comments stole the spotlight from England’s loss to Australia in the first ODI.
“If you get caught on the boundary or in the field, who cares?” said England's stand-in captain Harry Brook, brushing off concerns after several batters were caught in the deep at Trent Bridge.
Social media lit up with claims that England's players didn’t seem to care—fueling debates over their commitment. To some, it just didn’t seem to matter enough.
On Tuesday at Chester-le-Street, Harry Brook hit a brilliant first ODI century to secure a match-winning victory and keep the series alive.
Afterward, Brook addressed his critics: "Some people misunderstood what I meant. You have to play fearlessly, with a ‘who cares’ mindset. But that doesn't mean we don’t care about winning. It’s about not fearing failure."
As stand-in captain for the injured Jos Buttler, Brook emphasized bringing the same aggressive approach that’s worked for the Test team under Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum. "You have to be fearless and take the game to the bowlers," he added.
