British heavyweight Joe Joyce and Zhilei Zhang will face each other for a rematch on 23rd September.

A thrilling and highly anticipated rematch between British heavyweights Joe Joyce and Zhilei Zhang has been announced and will take place at Wembley's OVO Arena on 23rd September.

Zhilei Zhang and Joe Joyce first collided in mid-April at the Copper Box Arena, where it was Zhang who left the venue in possession of the WBO Interim heavyweight world championship strap. 

Referee Howard Foster stopped the fight in the sixth round due to the heavy swelling around the right eye of defending champion Joyce.

There had been talk of the pair heading to Beijing after the rematch clause was activated, but Joyce’s team have secured Wembley Arena as the venue for this bout on September 23, 2023.

“I’m coming back to take back what’s mine,” 37-year-old Joyce declared with Thursday’s announcement.

Zhang, 40, was linked with fighting Tyson Fury after upsetting Joyce to claim the WBO interim heavyweight title, which will again be on the line in September.
