Boulter Advances as Dart Exits Canadian Open.

Britain's top player Katie Boulter advanced to the second round of the Canadian Open, while fellow Brit Harriet Dart was eliminated.

Katie Boulter secured a 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 win over American Bernarda Pera, ranked 80th in the world, at the Sobeys Stadium in Toronto. She will next face Brazil’s Beatriz Haddad Maia, ranked 22nd, whom she defeated earlier this year at the San Diego Open.

British number three Harriet Dart lost a close match, 3-6, 6-3, 6-7 (2-7), to Russia’s Diana Shnaider, ranked 24th. Dart, who entered the main draw as a lucky loser after retiring with cramp during qualifying, couldn’t quite pull off the win.

Shnaider will go on to play Poland's Magdalena Frech in the second round.

Meanwhile, Naomi Osaka, a former world number one, defeated Tunisia's Ons Jabeur 6-3, 6-1, marking her fifth win over a top-20 player since returning from maternity leave.
