Bangladesh stayed composed during a challenging run-chase to defeat Pakistan in the second Test in Rawalpindi, securing their first-ever series win over the hosts.
Chasing 185 for their third-highest successful Test run-chase, Bangladesh stayed calm and achieved a memorable six-wicket win.
The victory marked a stunning turnaround for Bangladesh, who had been in trouble at 26-6 in their first innings. However, Litton Das (138) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (78) combined for 165 runs for the seventh wicket, helping them reach 262—just 12 runs behind Pakistan.
Seamer Hasan Mahmud took 5-43, and 21-year-old fast bowler Nahid Rana, who bowled over 93 mph, claimed 4-44 as Pakistan was dismissed for 172 in their second innings.
This set up Bangladesh's successful run-chase on the fifth day, with all six top-order batsmen scoring over 20 runs.
The win boosts them to fourth place in the World Test Championship table, ahead of England.
The top two teams, currently India and Australia, will face off in the final at Lord’s next summer.
