Australian back Jordan Petaia appears ready to become the latest rugby union player to make the jump to the NFL.
The 24-year-old, who can play outside center, wing, or full-back, is reportedly set to attend the NFL's International Player Pathway development camp in Florida this January.
Wales' Louis Rees-Zammit took a similar path when he transitioned from rugby union earlier this year.
Rees-Zammit is now on the practice squad of the Jacksonville Jaguars as a wide receiver after narrowly missing a spot on the Kansas City Chiefs' roster.
"Jordy's exploring other opportunities right now, but we’re in close contact with him," said Queensland Reds coach Les Kiss regarding Petaia’s future beyond his contract, which ends in November.
Petaia has not played since injuring his shoulder in April. He started the Wallabies' first three matches in last year's Rugby World Cup and has earned 27 Test caps.
A talented player from a young age, he made his international debut at 19 during Australia's campaign in Japan in 2019.
