Rugby Australia CEO Phil Waugh insists the Wallabies will provide strong competition for the British and Irish Lions next summer.
Australia faced their worst-ever Test defeat in 125 years on Saturday, losing 67-27 to Argentina.
This was their third loss in four games during the Rugby Championship, following a disappointing exit in last year's Rugby World Cup.
Despite the setback, Rugby Australia chairman Phil Waugh remains optimistic, telling the Sydney Morning Herald that progress is visible.
While acknowledging that the team isn't where it needs to be, Waugh believes that improvements under new coach Joe Schmidt over the past six months show promise. He remains confident that, with continued progress, Australia will be ready for the British and Irish Lions' tour in June.
In the Argentina match, Australia had a strong start, leading 20-3 before falling apart in the second half. They also held their own against South Africa earlier, trailing by just two points at halftime before losing 30-12.
