Australia Boosts Glasgow 2026 Bid with Extra Funding.

Glasgow's efforts to secure the 2026 Commonwealth Games took a new turn as Australian authorities pledged a multi-million-pound investment to help finalize the bid.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that the UK government offered £2.3m to help cover safety and security costs for the scaled-down, privately-funded 2026 Commonwealth Games. However, they requested the Scottish government to match the funding.

Scottish officials, including cabinet minister Neil Gray, have expressed concerns about the financial and reputational risks involved.

Unlike Glasgow's 2014 Commonwealth Games, which featured 18 sports, the 2026 proposal would involve 10 sports spread across four venues.
