Atletico Madrid defender Robin Le Normand sustained a "traumatic brain injury" following a late collision during Sunday's Madrid derby.
Robin Le Normand, 27, collided heads with Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni in stoppage time during the 1-1 Madrid derby.
After receiving treatment on the pitch, tests confirmed he suffered a traumatic brain injury with a subdural haematoma, caused by bleeding near the brain.
Atletico Madrid stated that Le Normand will follow the necessary recovery protocol before returning to action.
The Spanish international, who helped Spain win Euro 2024, joined Atletico from Real Sociedad this summer.
