Conor Gallagher entered as a substitute just in time for Atletico Madrid's thrilling 90th-minute winner against RB Leipzig in their Champions League opener.
Benjamin Sesko gave RB Leipzig an early lead with a header in the fourth minute, but Antoine Griezmann equalized 28 minutes later with a volley from 12 yards, marking his 37th Champions League goal. Griezmann was also denied a second goal by a great save from Leipzig's keeper, Peter Gulacsi.
The decisive moment came late in the match when Griezmann assisted Jose Maria Gimenez, whose downward header secured the win.
Conor Gallagher, who joined Atletico in August for around £33 million, came on in the 63rd minute with the score at 1-1. He is the second English player to play in the Champions League for Atletico, following Kieran Trippier.
Looking ahead, RB Leipzig will host Juventus on October 2, while Atletico Madrid travels to Benfica on the same date.
