Archie Atkinson took Paralympic silver in the C4 4,000m individual pursuit final in Paris, despite a dramatic fall in the final stages of the race.
The 20-year-old, the youngest rider on GB's cycling team, seemed set to add a gold medal to his world championship title, leading Slovakia’s Jozef Metelka by a wide margin.
However, with just 500 meters remaining, Atkinson lost his balance and fell off his bike. He was struck on the back of the head as he fell, and needed assistance to leave the track, leaving the Paris velodrome crowd in shock.
