Ashwin Claims Top Spot as Leading Wicket-Taker in 2023-25 ICC World Test Championship.

Ravichandran Ashwin has surpassed Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood to become the leading wicket-taker in the current 2023-25 ICC World Test Championship cycle.

The Indian spin veteran has now claimed an impressive 53 wickets in the 2023-25 ICC World Test Championship, edging out Hazlewood, who has taken 51 wickets. 

Ashwin’s remarkable performance continues to solidify his status as a key player in the tournament, showcasing his skill and experience on the international stage.

Ashwin took five wickets against Bangladesh in the recently concluded Test in Kanpur, leading India to a 7-wicket victory and securing a 2-0 series win.

In the first match of the series in Chennai, the 38-year-old delivered an impressive performance, taking 6 wickets for 88 runs in Bangladesh's second innings. 

This five-wicket haul brings Ashwin level with the legendary Shane Warne for the second-most five-wicket hauls in Test history, with both spinners achieving 37 five-fers.

With a total of 185 wickets in ICC World Test Championships, Ashwin stands as India's most successful bowler and ranks second in the tournament's history.
