Anticipating Neeraj Chopra's Olympic 2024 Debut: When Will He Compete?

Following their three-medal haul at the Paris Olympics, India is set to pursue further success as the Summer Games enter their second week.

After six days of competition, India has secured three bronze medals—all in shooting events held at the Paris range.

India’s medals at the Paris Olympics have been secured in the shooting range: Manu Bhaker clinched bronze in the women’s 10m Air Pistol, Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh together earned bronze in the 10m Air Pistol mixed team event, and Swapnil Kusale took bronze in the men’s 50m Air Rifle 3 positions.

However, the journey hasn’t been without challenges. Medal contenders such as Nikhat Zareen, PV Sindhu, Chirag Shetty, and Satwik Sairajrankireddy have all faced early exits.

One of India’s top medal prospects, Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra, has yet to compete at the Paris Olympics. While track and field events have begun, Chopra’s men’s javelin throw event is still a few days away.

The javelin qualifiers are set for August 6, marking Chopra's debut in Paris. If he advances to the final, he will compete again on August 8 to defend his title.

Chopra won gold in the men’s javelin at the delayed Tokyo Olympics with a throw of 87.58m and also claimed the World Championship title since then.
