Alvaro Bautista has claimed the top spot in race one at the World Superbikes in Portimao.

Alvaro Bautista won the first race at the World Superbikes in Portimao, over two seconds clear of Toprak Razgatlioglu with Jonathan Rea almost five seconds further back.

Garrett Gerloff won the fourth place battle ahead of Alex Lowes, Remy Gardner and Michael van der Mark.

Bautista's win extended his lead over Toprak Razgatlioglu to fifty two points and securing the manufacturer's title for Ducati.

In the rides off the podium, Garrett Gerloff and Michael van der Mark made the BMW look good, Gerloff passing Scott Redding in the championship standings, with Alex Lowes showing that the Kawasaki isn't that bad either, with his knee surgery behind him and a good bike under him.

Honda once again had an invisible race as Iker Lecuona could only manage eighth place with Michael Ruben Rinaldi suffering a technical issue and Andrea Locatelli behind him after starting last on the grid.
