Mark Allen called the conditions at the British Open "absolutely embarrassing," stating that the table he played on during his win over Gary Wilson should be "burned."
World number three Mark Allen, from Northern Ireland, defeated Gary Wilson 4-3 but expressed frustration about playing on table two at the Centaur in Cheltenham.
He told ITV, "The conditions are absolutely embarrassing. It's cold and humid outside, and they've left the transport doors wide open. The table should be burned."
Allen criticized the setup, saying it was "not good enough" for a tournament of this caliber. He described the cushions as "unplayable" and noted that while the speed was decent, the overall conditions were poor.
New staff handling the tables this year were clearly not meeting expectations, he added.
Allen, who was the runner-up at the British Open in 2022, will face Aaron Hill in the next round but doesn’t believe his complaints will change anything.
