Alfa Romeo team announced that Zhou Guanyu will retain his place in their Formula 1 team for the 2023 season.
The Chinese driver Zhou Guanyu scored points with a 10th place finish on his debut with Alfa Romeo in Bahrain, and followed up with eighth in Canada and another 10th in Italy. He currently lies 17th in the world championship.
Team boss Fred Vasseur believes that Zhou has been the surprise of the 2022 season and that he will make a further step next year.
The 23-year-old has not enjoyed the most seamless transition to Formula 1 with four retirements and just three top-10 finishes.
The strong relationship built up with team mate Bottas – who is on a multi-year deal – also played a role in Alfa Romeo opting to give Zhou a second season.
