Ron Yeats, the legendary former Liverpool captain who Bill Shankly famously called a "colossus," has passed away at the age of 86.

Ron Yeats, a former Scotland defender, was a cornerstone of Liverpool’s transformation under Bill Shankly. He captained the team to the Second Division title in 1962, a victory that marked the start of Liverpool's golden era.

Yeats went on to win two top-flight titles, the FA Cup, and three Charity Shields, playing a crucial role in making Liverpool one of England's most dominant clubs.

With 454 appearances for the Reds, his impact was immense before he transitioned to player-manager at Tranmere in 1971.
