James Madison A Starring Light Amidst Despair

James Maddison has backed himself to make an impact when given the opportunity in the England squad after the midfielder's 4-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Monday.

James Madison scored two goals and set another. Performances helped his side from the bottom up and put their World Cup chances at the top of the agenda.

"It's been a strange situation because we've been at the bottom of the league but I've been as confident as ever," Maddison said. "I can't remember playing better and feeling better in the last 12 months.

"I'm not naive, I know there are top, top players in the forward areas but I have self-belief that I am a top player and can be in that category.

"I have to force my way because players from the big clubs are in and they're on top. I think there may be a place for me, so I'll keep working hard."

"I really hope there's a place for that kind of player on a team," Rodgers said. "Someone so talented and so hardworking and such a team player.
